A Celebration of Life - May 15, 2010 - Michelle's House in Auburn
I have added some of our photos, in no particular order. There's a little story that goes with each one, and please feel free to send me pictures or stories yourself (this little message will self-destruct in about a month, for posterity sake). For those of you who wonder how long the blog will be up, I'll say this...until they change computer code language, this is here for all to enjoy!

A poem
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there
I do not sleep
I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle Autumn rain
I am the gentle Autumn rain
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds
In circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night
I am the soft stars that shine at night
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there
I did not die
I did not die

...and then, the rest of the story....
...and then, the rest of the story....
While packing up the car for the trip to MIchelle's for the Celebration of Life gathering of friends and family, Dorothy just happened to grab up Jay's collection of martini shakers. When Grant and I arrived, we noticed that people were carrying around these over-sized martini glasses, all with 2 olives. Everyone was pretty much whining that they didn't really like martinis, so I asked why they were drinking them and Kathleen explained that Jay had once told her, while sipping martinis at home in Tobin, that she should mix up a big batch of them at his funeral and everyone should drink one in memory of him.
She then pulled out a piece of paper and shared that when she'd dumped the ingredients for the martini into one of his silver shakers, she noticed something white floating around inside, and when she pulled it out, she'd found a poem. She then passed it over to me to read, and.....
It was the poem Jeffery had sent me 2 days ago, that his friend in New Orleans had shared with him to give him comfort and which he'd sent to me to include on Jay's blog.

Pictures from Babo
Barbara in Hawaii sent these pictures she managed to dig up...how fun! Barbara lived with Jay's family for a number of years in her late teens. She and Jay have been friends for simply ages! I'll edit this with more info as I gather it. I'm sure there are some good stories to go along with the pictures.
